David A. Bochnowski
Executive Chairman
David A. Bochnowski is Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President of the Bancorp and the Bank, and is accountable to the Board of Directors, customers, shareholders, employees and stakeholders for the operation of the company. He has been the Chief Executive Officer since 1981 and became the Chairman in 1995. He has been a director since 1977 and was the Bank’s legal counsel from 1977 to 1981. Mr. Bochnowski is a past Chairman of America’s Community Bankers (ACB), now known as the new American Bankers Association (ABA) a national bank trade association where he serves on the Government Relations Council and Task Force on Regulatory Relations. He is a member of the Security and Exchange Commission’s Advisory Committee on Small and Emerging Companies. He is a trustee and treasurer of the Munster Community Hospital, a director of the Community Healthcare System, a former chairman and current board member of the Legacy Foundation of Lake County, a Director of One Region, a trustee of the Purdue Technology Center Northwest Indiana, a trustee of Calumet College, and an advisory trustee for the Gary YWCA. He is a former Chairman of the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions; former Chairman of the Indiana League of Savings Institutions, now known as the Indiana Bankers Association; former director of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis; and, a former member of the Federal Reserve Thrift Institutions Advisory Committee. Before joining the Bank, Mr. Bochnowski was an attorney, self-employed in private practice. He holds undergraduate and Juris Doctorate degrees from Georgetown University and a Masters Degree from Howard University. He served as an officer in the United States Army and is a Vietnam veteran.
Benjamin J. Bochnowski
President and Chief Executive Officer
Benjamin Bochnowski has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Northwest Indiana Bancorp and Peoples Bank, Savings Bank (“Peoples”) since August 2013. Since joining Peoples in 2010, Mr. Bochnowski has had bank-wide responsibility for project management, strategic planning and enterprise risk management. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Bochnowski held the position of Senior Vice President, Strategy and Risk. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, followed by an MBA from ESADE business school in Barcelona, Spain. He speaks Spanish, and is a graduate of the American Bankers Association’s Stonier Graduate School of Banking with a Leadership Certificate from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Bochnowski volunteers with the Boys & Girls Club and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program for low-income individuals. He is a Board Member at the Dunes National Park Association, and is a mentor for the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans at Purdue University this fall.
Leane E. Cerven
Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary
Leane E. Cerven is Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary of the Bancorp and the Bank. Ms. Cerven joined the Bancorp and the Bank in May of 2010. Prior to joining the Bancorp and Bank, she practiced law for sixteen years in Chicago, first as an Associate Attorney with Mayer, Brown & Platt where she practiced primarily in the banking area, which included transactions involving the Resolution Trust Corporation/FDIC, corporate, international, bankruptcy, and litigation practice areas, and then as Vice President and Legal Counsel for Bank One where she practiced primarily in the commercial finance area, including secured and unsecured transactions, mergers and acquisitions, workouts, purchase of assets out of bankruptcy, international and multicurrency transactions, syndications, ESOP financings, and capital regulations. She is licensed to practice law in Indiana and Illinois. Ms. Cerven holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Valparaiso University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Ms. Cerven is actively involved in community service and serves on the Bioethics Committees for St. Catherine’s Hospital, East Chicago, and St. Mary’s Hospital, Hobart. She is a member of the Lake County Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
John J. Diederich
Executive Vice President, Chief Banking Officer
John J. Diederich is Executive Vice President of the Bancorp and the Bank. Mr. Diederich has responsibility for coordinating the daily activities of retail banking and for the solicitation of new customers for the Bank’s commercial lending, wealth management, municipal, and retail areas. Prior to joining the Bank in 2009, Mr. Diederich spent 35 years with JP Morgan Chase where his most recent responsibilities were as Regional President in Northwest Indiana. Mr. Diederich is involved in many community service organizations including serving as past Chairman of the Board of the Northwest Indiana Forum, the Crisis Center, Inc., the Northwest Indiana Regional Development Company and the Northwest Indiana Boys and Girls Clubs. He has also been a Director of the Crown Point Community Foundation, the Valparaiso Family YMCA, and the Adult Education Alliance. Mr. Diederich is currently a trustee of the John W. Anderson Foundation, a Director of the Regional Development Company, and is on the Finance Committee for the Diocese of Gary. Mr. Diederich holds a B.S. Degree in Finance from St. Joseph’s College and a B.S. Degree in Accounting from Calumet College.
Robert T. Lowry
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Robert T. Lowry is Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of the Bancorp and the Bank. He is responsible for finance, accounting, and financial reporting activities. Mr. Lowry has been with the Bank since 1985 and has previously served as the Bank’s Assistant Controller, Internal Auditor and Controller. Mr. Lowry is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). Mr. Lowry holds a Masters of Business Administration Degree from Indiana University and is a graduate of America’s Community Bankers National School of Banking. Mr. Lowry is an instructor for the American Bankers Association online banking courses. Mr. Lowry is currently serving on the board of the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana as board treasurer and chairman of the finance committee. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Indiana CPA Society and the Financial Managers Society.

Stanley E. Mize
Stanley E. Mize, as a prior owner of automobile dealerships and franchises, is familiar with financial accounting and budgets, which expertise is of value to the Bancorp, and assists him in his role as a member of the Bancorp’s Risk Management Committee, the Strategic Planning Committee, the Compensation and Benefits Committee, and the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.
James L. Wieser
James L. Wieser is an attorney who concentrates in real estate development work and representation of small businesses. This experience assists the Bancorp and the Bank in their real estate lending and lending to small businesses. He has also served on several audit and risk management committees of not-for-profit organizations. This experience assists him in his service as Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee.
Edward J. Furticella
Edward J. Furticella served as Chief Financial Officer of the Bank from 1995 to 2004. Prior to that time, he served as Controller of the Bank. He has been a CPA since 1992. He currently serves as Acting Administrative Head of the Accounting Department at Purdue University Calumet Campus. This accounting background and experience enables him to provide valuable service to the Bancorp, including with respect to analyzing the Bancorp’s operating results, financial condition, and financial budgets, and as Chairman of the Risk Management Committee and as a member of the Strategic Planning Committee.
Joel Gorelick
Joel Gorelick served as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Bancorp until January 2013 when he retired, and has over 40 years of banking experience including retail and commercial banking. He has detailed knowledge of commercial lending facilities as well as the intricacies of daily banking operations. His expertise has been utilized as an instructor for educational seminars offered by the Indiana Bankers Association. He has a high profile within the community and is active in numerous community activities. This experience assists him in his role as a member of the Wealth Management Committee.
Kenneth V. Krupinski
Kenneth V. Krupinski is the past President and a current employee of an accounting firm and has been a CPA since 1973. He is also actively involved in the Bank’s community. Mr. Krupinski’s extensive accounting background enables him to provide value to the Board in his role as the Board’s audit committee financial expert, as a member of the Bancorp’s Risk Management Committee, the Strategic Planning Committee, the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, and as Chairman of the Compensation and Benefits Committee.
Anthony M. Puntillo
Anthony M. Puntillo, D.D.S., M.S.D., as the founder and owner of Puntillo and Crane Orthodontics, PC, and a member of various orthodontics associations, has expertise in such areas. He is also active in the Bank’s communities. His experience and profile assist the Bancorp and the Bank with their business lending strategies and he serves as the Chairman of the Bank’s Wealth Management Committee and as a member of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.
Donald P. Fesko
Donald P. Fesko is the Chief Executive Officer of a local hospital and has significant health care expertise. He is also active in the Bank’s community. These attributes are of value to the Bancorp in offering Bank products and services to the health care industry and to other Bank customers. He also served on a compensation committee for the Community Healthcare System, bringing him expertise of value to his service on the Bancorp’s Compensation and Benefits Committee, the Wealth Management Committee, and the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.

Robert E. Johnson III
Northwest Indiana Bancorp, the holding company for Peoples Bank, announced that the Board has elected Robert E. Johnson III to the Board of Directors. The Board plans to name Johnson to its Nominating and Corporate Governance, Strategic Planning and Risk Management Committees. Johnson is the President, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Cimcor, Inc., firm that develops IT security software. He is also the founder of Velocityware, a mobile software and technology company. Active in the community, Johnson is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Legacy Foundation. He is also Chair of Finance on the Board of Directors for the Methodist Hospitals and is part of part of several other organizations.
Amy W. Han
Amy W. Han, Ph.D., has a Ph.D. in psychology and has served as a human resources management consultant. She lends expertise to the Board in the human resources area. As Director of Clinical Affairs and Clinical Professor of Psychology at Indiana University School of Medicine-Northwest, she brings leadership skills and the ability to help individuals achieve their goals to the Board of Directors. She is also very knowledgeable about the means and methods of providing good customer service to individuals in Northwest Indiana. This experience assists her in her role as a member of the Wealth Management Committee, the Compensation and Benefits Committee, and the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.
Danette Garza
Garza is a certified public accountant as well as a licensed attorney specializing in Corporate, Estate Planning and Elder law. She is currently providing legal and consulting services as an independent contractor to the firm of Austgen, Kuiper & Associates, P.C. As the owner of Continental Languages, LLC in Highland, IN, Garza offers on-site and over-the-phone language interpreting services in over 120 languages to Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals. She formerly served as chief operating officer and corporate counsel for an Indiana multispecialty group medical practice. Garza earned a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting and an MBA from Indiana University, and her law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law.

Leroy F. Cataldi is a Pharmacist, Dyer, Indiana.
Lourdes M. Dennison
Lourdes M. Dennison is a realtor with broad knowledge of Lake County and Porter County in Indiana as well as the greater Chicago area in addition to her experience in real estate development. She is also familiar with the medical community having worked as a registered Nurse and has managed a medical office.
